Myths and legends always intrigue me, and this was inspired by various myths involving orcas and human interactions. The main myth that guided me to create this image of a orca siren or orca mermaid (however you wish to think of it) is a twist on a myth from the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest. It is a story of a woman being taken by orcas and turned into one, but still being part human. Strangely, I went that direction after reading some other myths which are from New Zealand and are similar. It's probably because I am from the Pacific Northwest.
