This was a spontaneous painting of great importance to me because the background was done many years ago, and it never told me what to paint. It sat in my studio for years, I saw it daily, just waiting for it to speak.
One day it finally did. The Raven as a king. The Raven King, and the moon. It was the month of the flower moon, and the moon was bloody, pretty, but wicked and cold.
"I am the king of ravens" I heard in my mind as I painted away on this canvas that had always refused to speak before.
This canvas was witness to my art, my laziness, my failings, sorrows, and so many other things through the years, but never spoke.
This is what it eventually said.
"I am the king of ravens, and I fear not the flower moon."
